March 1st is here! And with the warm days we’ve been having there are buds on the blooming trees in DC! That’s why one of our themes this month is “Bloom.”
The Cherry Blossom Festival begins on March 20th here in DC, and the US Park Service sponsors a “Bloom Watch” here where you can monitor their growth. As of February 24th, they already have green buds, so they are on track to be on the early side.
Also in March we have the Academy Awards coming up this Sunday. Hopefully the announcers for the Best Film won’t be given the wrong envelope! We also celebrate the Persian New Year Nowruz (sometimes spelled Norooz) on March 21st. Here is a summary of the lovely traditions, including the Sofreh Haft Seen (sometimes just Haftseen). The Sofreh Haft Seen is a table set with objects which each symbolized an aspect of spring and renewal.
Of course, we also have St. Patrick’s Day on the 17th and Pi Day on the 14th! It’s always fun to go to Pi Pizzeria here in DC on Pi Day. We also have Daylight Savings which begins on Sunday March 11th, and my birthday on the 16th! And Palm Sunday is on March 25th which starts Holy Week and brings us Easter on April 1st.
We have three free lock screens for your phone to mark the new month. Every time you reach for your device you can be motivated with our beautiful images and inspiration.
In addition to “Bloom,” our other themes for March include “Create,” and “Simplicity.”
Please share this post with a friend so they can be inspired throughout March as well.

The trees began to whisper,
and the wind began to roll,
And in the wild March-morning
I heard them call my soul.
